TEXTBOOK INFORMATION

End of Year Textbook Return Information

Check all books for damage. Bring any damage (not already noted on inside front cover) to the attention of the library staff before the end of September.  We are looking for is cover damage, writing, loose binding, torn or missing pages, and water damage or mold, and loose or damaged barcodes.

TIPS ON TEXTBOOK CARE

Note: Students are financially responsible for all lost or damaged textbooks and/or library books,

Record name – record your name inside the front cover of each textbook.

Liquids – liquid on books is very destructive. We recommend carrying liquids outside of your backpack.

Cover – cover all your textbooks. Plastic covers are not allowed as they leave a sticky residue. Only jumbo book socks are allowed. Any size smaller will break the binding of the book causing a bindery fee to be assessed. Do not tape the cover to the insides of the book.

Backpack – never leave your backpack unattended. If you textbooks are stolen or misplaced, you’re still responsible for the replacement cost.

Your Textbook Barcodes are accessible by logging into the library catalog from the school webpage.

HOW TO COVER YOUR TEXTBOOK

NOTE: Do NOT tape the book cover to the insides of the book. A fine will be assessed if you do.

Beware of plastic and vinyl book covers. Heat & sunlight can permanently fuse them to a book and a fine will be assessed.
Brown paper grocery bags work well.  Follow the directions below for attaching:

  1. Textbook Policies

The library loans a set of books to each student for use during the school year. Students are responsible for keeping the books in a similar condition all year.

Textbooks range in price from approximately $10 to $100+. If a textbook is lost, students are responsible for paying the replacement cost.

Refunds for returned/paid lost textbooks will incur a $10 processing fee.

Fines are charged for damaged books, anywhere from $1 to total replacement cost. Carrying drinks in one's backpack is the number one cause for damaged books.  Water damage can cause mold and mildew which can cause a serious health problem for students and teachers. These need to be discarded and replaced, paid for by the student.

NEVER USE SELF ADHESIVE BOOK COVERS!!

Keep track of your textbooks' number. Turning in a book with a different number will result in someone else getting credit for the return. Just like a rental car... you can't turn in the blue one if you rented the green one, even if it is the same car.

**MOLD (even a trace amount) requires total replacement

Students are expected to replace books at the publisher's replacement cost should they lose, damage, or have them stolen.  If a student returns a book that was not originally checked out to him/her, return credit cannot be given. Students are responsible for the actual barcoded book checked out in their name.
