NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT for 2012 – 2013
TK - KINDERGARTEN UPDATE
We have completed the lottery process
for our kindergarten class for the 2012-13 school year. The process
was lead by a member of the PTA Palomar Council and the Executive
Director of Learning Support Services from Poway Unified.
The names of students who will be attending MRES in the fall are
posted in the front of the school. Student names are posted using
the child’s first name and last initial.
Parents of students who are on the waitlist were personally called.
We appreciate your support through this process.

“SALUTE TO VOLUNTEERS”
APPRECIATION BREAKFAST IS MAY 23 So much of our work at
school depends on the generosity and support of our parents
and volunteers. We will be hosting a “Salute to Volunteers”
breakfast on Wednesday, May 23rd at 8:00 in the MPR to say
thanks to all of our volunteers that have made this year so
successful. We have so many people to thank and we look
forward to seeing you there! Child care will be provided.

PRO GRO DAY – THURSDAY, MAY 24 – DISMISSAL AT 12:45 Please note that Thursday, May 24 will be a minimum day. We will dismiss at 12:45. The state of California, along with 44 other states, has adopted the Common Core Standards. In an effort to be prepared for our focus on implementing the standards, we will be spending the afternoon in professional development session diving into the work. ESS will be open all day from 6:30 am – 6:00 pm. ** Families with AM only and/or Wednesday only contracts may attend ESS after school on this day. Please contact Ms. B.J. or Ms. Gracie for additional fee information.
5th GRADE SPRING MUSIC CONCERT IS MAY 24 Reminder for parents of 5th grade band and orchestra students: You are invited to the spring music concert on Thursday, May 24 at 6:30pm in the Monterey Ridge multi-purpose room. Strings students should arrive at 5:30pm and band students should arrive at 6:00pm. Doors for audience seating will open 5 minutes prior to concert time. Mrs. P has requested that you have your child dress nicely for the evening concert. In addition, students will perform an assembly for the school the same morning. Our final music class of the school year will be May 31.
INCOMING 4th and 5th GRADE TRIP TO SACRAMENTO INFORMATION MEETING We are once again planning a trip to Sacramento next year for all 4th and 5th graders. An informational meeting will be held in Mrs. Calder’s room, B-10, on Tuesday, May 29th at 5:00.
DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL AWARD
This Wednesday we will meet State Superintendent Tom Torlakson to officially receive the CA Distinguished School Award. Again, this award belongs to the entire MRES community for all of their hard work and dedication.

There is no school on May 28 in honor of Memorial Day
PROMOTION
Our 5th grade promotion is scheduled for Wednesday, June 6. We are very much looking for to sending off our 5th grades to middle school.
5th GRADERS VS STAFF SOFTBALL GAME
Our annual staff vs. 5th grade softball game will take place on Monday, June 4. Over the last four years the staff and students have each won two games so we are very much looking forward to seeing who will win the game.

On the last day of school we host field day for all of our students. It is a fun filled morning for all.
