Varsity Head Coach - Frank Quinones email
Coach QUINONES played basketball at Simi Valley & Vista High School. Coach Q has coached basketball at every level from 3rd grade up to high school. Coach Q comes to Westview where he has coached basketball in East County for the past 16 years. He started as a Varsity Assistant coach at West Hills HS under the direction of Jeff Armstrong where he then became the Girls Varsity Head Coach at Steele Canyon and then at El Capitan High School. He has also coached golf as the varsity assistant & boys JV volleyball Head Coach.
During his time as head coach he had lead his teams into the playoffs 8 straight years going into the semi-finals for 2 of them falling short to Mt Miguel ‘08 and to Westview in ‘09. Coach Q has worked and attended many camps over his playing and coaching career. As a player he attended Snow Valley Camps, John Wooden Camps, and Pepperdine Camps. He has coached at camps under the direction of Magic Johnson, Brad Holland and Steve Fisher.
Coach Quinones resides in San Diego with his wife, Michelle. They have 4 boys Austin graduated from West Hills currently attending Grossmont College, Alec is a sophomore at West Hills HS plays basketball and on the varsity golf team, Aaron a freshman at West Hills and plays football, Aiden plays tee-ball, soccer and golf and will be starting Kindergarten this year.
Coach Q is excited to be given the opportunity and looks forward into continuing the success that has been established at Westview High School.
Varsity Assistant Coach - Sherry Watts
Coach Watts is in her second year as a volunteer varsity assistant coach at Westview. She started her coaching career at Poway High school in 1991 and spent 14 years with the Titans. During that time the Titans won 5 League Titles and 3 CIF championships, in 2004 she left coaching to spend time with her family. She returned to the coaching ranks in 2009 at Rancho Bernardo High and in 2011 joined up with the Wolverines. Coach Watts is a graduate of Arizona State University, where she spent 4 years playing basketball for the Sun Devils. Upon graduation, she was in the top 5 in several statistical categories including 3rd leading scorer, 2nd leading rebounder and 1st in free throw percentage. Coach Watts was honored as an Academic All-American in 1987, as ASU Athlete of the Year in 1987, and is only one of two women basketball players in ASU history to be honored with the PAC-10 Medallion Award (the highest honor bestowed on a PAC-10 Student/Athlete). In 1996 she was named to the PAC-10 Team of the Decade, which included basketball great Cheryl Miller. Coach Watts played high school basketball, volleyball, and softball and still holds several high school records.
She resides in Rancho Bernardo with her husband of 21 years, Brian. They have two children, Lexi, a senior at RB, plays varsity volleyball and her son Jonathan a 6th grader attends Bernardo Heights and plays basketball and baseball.
Coach Watts looks forward to another successful and exciting year with the Wolverines.
Varsity Assistant Coach - Cathy Punsalan e-mail
Coach Punsalan is in her 2nd season as the varsity assistant and 7th year in the program. She is also a coach with the Wolverine Ballers program. She also coaches softball at Westview and is the JV head coach. She has coached basketball from the rec level, to AAU, to club and High school.
Coach Punsalan went to high school in Los Angeles, where she was a tri-sport athlete, participating in volleyball, basketball and softball. She continued playing basketball at UC Santa Cruz as a Banana Slug for 4 years. Aside from coaching she works with 3 & 4 year olds Autistic kids in the Poway Unified School District.
Coach Punsalan is looking forward to another exciting, fun, and successful season with the Wolverines and excited for the Wolverine Ballers Program to continue building on the foundation that has been set for Girls basketball at Westview HS.
JV Head Coach - Kelcy Davis e-mail
Coach Davis is excited to be back as a Wolverine! She was a Varsity Assistant coach at Westview from 2005-2009 and also coached a few wolverine club teams. She then became the Head JV coach at La Jolla Country day where they went undefeated in league, and also was an assistant coach for the WAVES club teams. Last year, she coached 9th grade volleyball and basketball at El Capitan.
Coach Davis played at Rancho Bernardo High school for Peggy Brose and also participated in Volleyball and track. She also played for Showcase and attended several basketball camps throughout high school, and played at Chapman University. Aside from basketball, Coach Davis loves hanging out with her family on the boat (Hoops Junkie), cooking, and working with kids who have autism.
Its been awesome to see how much this program has grown over years. I look forward to carrying on the tradition for years to come.
JV Assistant Coach - Jacqueline Parente e-mail
Coach Parente attended Westview where she was a 4-year varsity player under Coach McHeffey. After graduating, she went onto Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where in December she will earn her Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science and Health Promotion. Recently she completed an internship at Spine and Sport Physical Therapy clinic in San Juan Capistrano over the summer. This is Coach Parente’s first year coaching at Westview and is very excited for this great opportunity.

7th/8th Grade Wolverine Ballers Coach - Candia Sierra
Coach Sierra was a tri-athlete at Point Loma High School where she played basketball, softball and track and field. She was also the team captain of the basketball and softball team. After high school she attended Grossmont Community College and played a year of basketball before transferring to Alliant International University to receive her bachelor’s degree. She was the girls JV basketball coach at El Capitan HS under the direction of Coach Quinones.
Coach Sierra resides in San Diego with 3 year old daughter, who is involved in dance, sports such as t-ball & soccer. Coach Sierra is currently attending graduate school to receive her master’s degree in sociology and non-profit management. Coach Sierra is excited and eager to work with the wolverine program and contribute to the reputable success at Westview High School.
