Westview Wins Second Place at Cyber Patriot National Competition
The Westview Cyber Security Team returned from Washington D.C. with a Second Place win in the Open Divison of Cyber Patriot III national competition. The competition was developed by the Air Force Association in order to inspire high school students towards careers in cyber security and other science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) disciplines. Northrup Grumman was the presenting sponsor. The Westview team is sponsored by BAE Systems.
The Final Round took place on Friday, April 1 at the AFA's CyberFutures Conference in National Harbor, MD. Team members competing in theFinals were Vineel Adusumilli, Dennis Aleynikov, George Du, Ho-Wei Kang, Divya Kothandapani and Roger Ouyang.
Additional team members who have been competing throughout the year were Alex Hoshino, Laurence Li and Kyle Nuzzolo. Tammy Neuhaus is the advisor of the Cyber Security Club.
The Poway High School Robotics Club was among the top 12 Open Division teams participating in the Finals. Having two teams from PUSD make it to the Cyber Patriot Finals was quite an accomplishment.
