Wednesday September 7th

Due In-Class: Your typed response to "The Wanderer".

Studying of Latin roots.

A blog was to have been completed by Tuesday night midnight.

In-Class: Latin Roots quiz.

We will begin reading "Beowulf", part I. The piece we will be reading is only an "excerpt", meaning just a short section of Beowulf. Many of the stories from the Prentice Hall book are just pieces (often times just the best parts!), thus most of the time we never complete any works but you should find you have a decent general understanding of the literature and times.

Assignments: Read part 2 of Beowulf where Beowulf fights Grendel's mother. Type up a page explaining what obstacles he faces, how he almost loses the battle and what helps him win. Include details such as what he returns from the battle with and give examples of exaggeration in the poem. This will be due next Wednesday.

There is a blog about Beowulf due by next Tuesday night.

A YouTube version of Beowulf with the narration in Old English. (If it doesn't make any sense to you in Old English, don't worry, it doesn't to almost everyone out there except scholars).
