Monday - Read this introduction and then read The Marshall Plan and answer these 8 questions. ( A-18) History Social Science Standard

Tuesday-  Now that the world has been divided economically, it was time to divide militarily. In 1949, NATO was created. Read the original treaty and write a 1 sentence summary for each of the 14 Articles. After writing your 1 sentence summaries, answer the following question in paragraph form. Did the creation of NATO increase or decease Cold War tensions? Explain your answer. Also, Please print a copy of the questions that you will be answering tomorrow and bring them to class with you.  (A-19) History Social Science Standard 11.9.2

Lab Day- Today we will be viewing several segments of the show "Our World" and begin answering these questions. The topics include The Berlin Blockade, The Soviets Get The Bomb, The Birth Of Communist China, and The Korean War. We will also review the Korean War interactive map. Using the following 4 sections , Invasion(2), Counterattack(3), Chinese Advance(5), and Armistice(4), create a timeline which summarizes the important events which occurred in Korea. The numbers in parentheses represent the minimum number of entries for each section.(A-14) During the war, President Truman relieved General Douglas MacArthur of his command. General MacArthur returned to the United States a hero and spoke to Congress. To hear his famous speech, go to the great speeches page and scroll down until you get to General MacArthur. Then click on the hear itbutton. The speech is about than 3 minutes. History Social Science Standard 11.9.3

Friday-  Today we will see 2 more segments from Our World. They will focus on Francis Gary Powers and Yuri Gagarin. You will be completing the questions we began on Lab Day.
