Tools and Scripts:

  • Rollover Pop-up Menu: this script from the Dynamic Drive site allows you to create rollover pop-up menus like the ones Lynne Harvey used to create the new Rolling Hills Elementary School Website.
  • Site Meter: this site offers a free web counter service if the FrontPage web counter doesn't meet your needs.
  • Java File.com: This site has a wonderful array of java scripts to add the following to your pages: calculators, clocks, special cursors, E-mail forms, mouseovers, scrolling text, and ticker tapes. The ads can sometimes be unusual, so may not be the best site for students.
  • Dynamic Drive Java Scripts: To add scrolling marquees, count-down calendars, pop-up menus, clocks, and more visit this site.
  • Dōjō the Javascript Toolkit: Check out the see-it-in-action tab for examples of amazing web effects and the scripts to do them.

Free and For a Slight Fee:

  • Many have asked about the "very cool" Flash buttons Russ Bird and his students at Mesa Verde are using to create webpage navigation. (See Sundance Elementary School's Site for a fun example.) Russ purchased this service for $32.00 a year from Flashbuttons.com. However, the site also offers the option to create buttons for free! The primary difference is that the free navigation bar you create will include a very tiny link back to Flashbuttons.com after the last button on your bar. You can see a sample on their site.
  • Becoming a member at the My Treasured Collection site by Sally gives you access to great backgrounds and graphics for your pages. It is only $10.00 a year and you receive email updates whenever new seasonal graphics are added. It is MORE than worth the small fee per year.
