Children's
Book Council's Not Just for Children Anymore! includes
several categories of books that appeal to readers of all ages.
An annual project of
The Children's Book Council, this bibliography contains nearly two hundred
children's book titles that adults will enjoy and buy for themselves and
for other adults. Some of the categories represented in the 2002 edition
include
Biographies and History,
Picture Books, and
For the Fun of It. Each annotation contains bibliographic data and
a brief description.

Children's Book Council's Online Showcase:
This bimonthly
listing of The Children’s Book Council features titles grouped around a
preselected theme. Over 30 past showcases are available in the
CBC archive;
sample themes include Art, Artists, and the Worlds
They Create, Exploring the Natural World: Ecology and the Environment,
Holidays around the World, Math and Counting, and Summertime Reading.
Annotations include bibliographic data, a brief description, and cover
artwork.
Children's Choices:
This joint project
of the International Reading Association (IRA) and
The Children's Book Council
appears each year in the October issue of IRA’s journal The
Reading Teacher.
The list
includes brief reviews of approximately 100 titles, each of which has been
recommended by children ages 5 to 13.
Young Adults’ Choices:
This annual
project of the International Reading Association is published each
November in the Association’s Journal of Adolescent & Adult
Literacy. The list provides descriptions of approximately
30 books selected by teams of reviewers in grades 7 to 12.
Teachers’ Choices:
This annual
project of the International Reading Association appears in the
November issue of The
Reading
Teacher.
The list
identifies approximately 30 books rated by teams of teachers,
librarians, and reading specialists as outstanding for curriculum
use with students ages 5 to 14.

Authors and Illustrators Every Child Should Know : This
list was originally compiled by noted reading specialist Bernice E.
Cullinan in 1994 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of National
Children's Book Week and to introduce children to newer books in the
field of children's literature. Although no longer new, these titles
remain favorite reads.
Notable
Social
Studies Trade Books for Young People :
A joint
project of the
National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS)
and the Children's Book Council, this bibliography features over 150
K-8 annotated titles selected by a book review committee appointed
by the NCSS. Titles are grouped by subject; each annotation contains
bibliographic data and a brief description.

A joint
