The BHMS
Leo Club meets every
Wednesday after school in
Room S-4. Mrs. Wendy Svenson
is the club advisor and the
club is sponsored by the
Rancho Bernardo Lions Club.
In addition to our weekly
meetings, we've participated
in numerous community
service projects throughout
the years such as beach
clean-ups, Trick-or-Treat
for UNICEF, making and
delivering Valentines to
patients at Villa Pomerado,
raised funds to help Cedar
fire victims from BHMS, assisting
with the San Diego Walk for
Autism, and making blankets
for the homeless, to name a
few. Other projects
have included collecting
glasses for Sight Night
at Halloween, making
placemats for Interfaith
Social Services in Escondido
at Thanksgiving, making
blankets for the Alpha
Project, and participating
in the Lions/Leo pancake
breakfast at RBHS.
The
objective of the Leo Club
Program is to provide club
members with an opportunity
for development and
contribution, individually
and collectively, as
responsible members of the
local, national and
international community.
The Leo
club motto is Leadership,
Experience,
Opportunity.
Leadership traits -
organization skills, time
management, personal
motivation - develop when
young people complete
community service projects.
Experience when
serving the community
teaches young people the
importance of cooperation.
Opportunity for
growth, maturity, and a new
perspective of the community
occur when young people
perform community service.
As you
can see, community service
remains the cornerstone of
the program. Leo Club
members enjoy serving their
neighbors and watching
positive results unfold. |
