BHMSAbout our School…

Bernardo Heights Middle School, with an enrollment of 1394, is both a California Distinguished School and a National Blue Ribbon award winner. Nearby hillsides form a backdrop for the well-maintained modern campus, with a central entrance lane serving as a gateway to the neighboring campus of Rancho Bernardo High School.

Our sprawling suburban campus houses students who are active participants in the learning process. At Bernardo Heights, we believe education should develop responsible global citizens in a diverse society promoting a passion and curiosity for lifelong learning.

Our dynamic and talented staff works and plans collaboratively to provide our students with outstanding educational experiences based on current research data and California Academic Standards.

Community ties are strong through the efforts of parent and community volunteers. An active PTSA and BHMS Educational Foundation continue to provide volunteer assistance and financial support helping to provide unique learning opportunities for all students. Our students are actively involved in school and community service projects.

The three guiding principles of “Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Honorable” set the tone for a school climate which fosters mutual respect and acceptance. From our unique architecture to the exciting learning environment within our classrooms, Bernardo Heights Middle School is a vigorous, active educational center filled with the promise of tomorrow.
