What makes the Academy work...
The Academy at Black Mountain was created to give students who are committed to doing their very best an environment where they can reach their true potential. The Academy provides students with an extended school year including a summer session and an extra hour a day. This allows our staff and students time to delve more deeply into our curriculum and help students develop critical thinking skills. The results of this extended year are evident in our test scores and the success of our students while they are with us and when they go to high school. This spring we will celebrate our first alumni class going onto college. We look forward to sharing their success with our current families.

The cost of our Academy...
Our Academy program is expensive. In order to offer our summer session and our extended school day for one school year we need $150,000 a year. If all families donated their share of $475 per student it would insure the existence of the Academy at Black Mountain Middle School. This comes to $2.64 a day to guarantee the Academy can continue to provide this highly effective program for next year. We ask a significant commitment from our students and our staff. Without the financial commitment from our parents we would not be able to offer such a powerful program. Your support is essential not only for students currently in our program, but for future students as well.

A donation of $475 per child, per year, is needed primarily to fund the Academy's "more teaching time" philosophy that our children benefit from. Our goal this year is for EVERY family to fulfill their commitment to support the Academy financially, to whatever degree they are able. All contributions are helpful.
