Principal's Welcome Message!

     I would like to welcome everyone to the 2009-2010 school year. I am proud to say our Academy program is back at Black Mountain, in our newly remodeled rooms, for our summer session that started June 16 and runs through July 8.

     This year we have faced the financial challenge of funding our Academy program with little if any effect to our existing program. This is only possible because of the generosity and support of our Academy parents and families. We are going to have to depend on this generosity for the next few years as we get through this economic crisis that has cut district funding of our program. You will be contacted by some of your fellow Academy families to let you know what you can do to make sure we continue to offer this program in years to come.

     This summer I am witnessing the enthusiasm of our new students, the dedication of our returning students and our amazing parents who show up every day to volunteer their time. We have what our staff likes to call our legacy students – former Academy students who come back to help during the summer - helping our present Academy students get off to a great start in their middle school years. This serves as a testament to the importance of our Academy for these students. We have created a family atmosphere that supports our students to be the very best they can be. I want to welcome everyone to another great year. Thanks for all you do to support our Academy program.
