PEPP ~ Information about 2010-2011 PEPP (Poway Extended Primary Program) is now available. This is a developmental program designed primarily for our younger kindergarten students, born between June1st and December 2nd, and students with individual needs who would benefit from two years in a Kindergarten class. Creekside will not be offering PEPP next year. For a list of schools and information please visit this link.

You are invited to Creekside's multicultural night ~ “A Taste of Creekside” Feb. 25th, 2010 At 5:30 *Bring a dish to share with 12 people. It can be a main dish, appetizer, dessert, or salad. The lunch tables will be transformed into a trip around the world showcasing the food and cultural items from each continent. We NEED your help! Besides a food item, are you willing to let us borrow something from your home country? (money, books, toys, instruments, clothing?) We are also looking for students that would like to play their instrument or sing a song for entertainment. **If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call, Lisa Charbonneau in Rm. F-4 858.391.1514 x: 2604 or Geeta Shreedar 858.486.1482

Safety Reminder
With the beginning of a new year, this seems to be another good opportunity to review school safety reminders with your children. Please emphasize the importance of walking in groups and not talking to strangers. For additional safety measures, visit the PUSD website at www.powayusd.com and click on the school safety link on top of the home page.

International Friends Tea ~ All parents are invited to come and discuss Creekside's multicultural night for this year; “A Taste of Creekside,” scheduled for Feb. 25th, 2010. The idea is that families will bring a potluck item to share and then travel from booth to booth tasting foods and being enriched in each country’s culture.

Note: In order for Creekside to get the proceeds, a flyer must be presented.

Feeling a little more casual? Not as much time?

Attention 5th Grade Parents ~ Believe it or not, the school year is almost half over. We want to send our fifth graders off in style and need your help planning graduation day. The first meeting is Monday, February 8th at 9:00 in the MPR room. Hope to see you there.

PTA Reflections ~ Do you know what happened at Friday Flag this week?

Each of the 75 Reflections participants received a t-shirt (thank you, Rogers family), a Legoland admission ticket, and a Pat and Oscar’s kid’s meal certificate.
Then the 20 students whose pieces moved to Council judging introduced themselves.  Three students – Anika Dandekar, Kody Xu, and Daniel Zhang – moved to District (San Diego and Imperial County) judging. And although Creekside pieces did not move to State judging, PUSD was represented in each category.  We are very proud of our Geckos! Come check out the MPR in April and see all of the artwork.

Creekside Yearbooks ~ Order forms for Yearbooks have been sent home with students. The cost is $20, checks should be written to Creekside PTA. Include child's name, grade, teacher AND classroom on the order form.
Order yours now, the deadline is coming soon.

101 Dalmatians ~ Looking for a little arts and entertainment in your life? How about a play the whole family can enjoy? The PTA has obtained a group price for 101 Dalmatian tickets at the San Diego Civic Theater. The show time is June 6 at 6:00 pm. The PTA is selling orchestra level tickets for $45 each--- the box office price is over $60. Tickets are on a first come, first service bases and will likely sell out. If you are interested please contact dorindasoucek@gmail.com

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Before and After School Supervision
The playground will be open to students in the morning beginning at 8:40 A.M. No supervision will be provided before 8:40 A.M. so students should not arrive at school before this time. Once students arrive, they may not leave unless a parent or other authorized person comes to the office to sign them out. To ensure the safety of our children, you will be required to show identification when you pick up your child. Supervision after school occurs at the two front parking lots and the back gate. Please pick up your child by 3:40 P.M.. ESS is not responsible for the supervision of your child after school on the playground unless you are paying/accessing their services.

Extended Student Services (ESS)
Creekside provides an ESS program, which is a fee based before and after school childcare program. ESS is open from 6:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. All students planning to participate in ESS must be registered at our ESS building. Please call our coordinator, Donnie Kirchmeier at 858-679-9601, for information regarding registration and fees.
