WHEN SHOULD MY CHILD STAY HOME FROM SCHOOL?

Please take a few minutes at home to carefully check your child’s health before he/she leaves for school each morning. The following are a few suggestions, which may help to guide you:

REASONS FOR KEEPING YOUR CHILD HOME:

~Illness during the night
~Fever is present (100 degrees or greater)
~Complaints of nausea, upset stomach, vomiting, headache, diarrhea prior to leaving for school
~Development of a rash on face and/or body
~Has a severe cold, cough and/or sore throat
~Has inflamed eye(s) with discharge from them

Please Remember: An ill child cannot function properly in the classroom. The spread of illness and disease through class or school can be more easily monitored if sick children remain at home during the acute stage of an illness. If the school health tech detects any of the above, your child will be sent home.

People with influenza-like illness are to remain home until at least 24 hours after they are free of fever (100o F [37.8o C]) without the use of fever-reducing medications.

A student’s absence should be reported on the School Absence Hotline by calling: (858) 484-4876.

ONLINE LUNCH PAYMENTS:  SchoolPaymentSolutions.com has moved to MySchoolBucks.com.  We have a new name and a new look, but we're committed as ever to providing you with an easy, convenient way to make school lunch payments.  There is NO cost to sign up.  Transaction fees do apply when using a debit or credit card.  Check out the website to learn more about this online system.

HAVE YOU MOVED OR ARE YOU MOVING?:  Keeping your child's information and parent information up-to-date is very important!  If you know you will be moving, or if you have already moved, please contact the Deer Canyon office immediately.  A change in address requires that a Residency Information Form be completed and two proofs of residency be brought to the office.  The Post Office WILL NOT forward school mail, even if you've filled out a "Forwarding Notice" through the Post Office.
If your new address is out of the Deer Canyon boundaries, you will be required to complete and submit to the PUSD Attendance & Discipline office an Intra-District Transfer Form (IDT) Intra/Inter District Transfer Information.  If you are applying for an IDT, your information must be up-to-date.  If not, it may cause a delay with the approval of your IDT request.  If you have any questions regarding this process, please contact the Deer Canyon office at 858-484-6064.
