In Hawaiian “hui” means to join a group or club, and “kokua” is to aid or help. But how exactly does your being a PTA Member help? First, part of your dues allows Deer Canyon PTA to sponsor many wonderful events and programs for our children and community. Second, your membership gives you rights to attend meetings, express your opinions on the budget and in elections, run for a Board position, and be a voice in determining the future of the DCE PTA. Third, increasing our membership at DCE boosts the power of the PTA. PTA is a national organization of several million members that advocates for children, youth and families on federal, state and local issues. At a time when budget cuts threaten an entire generation of children, we need that advocacy more than ever. We encourage each parent, and even involved grandparents, aunts and uncles, to join the Deer Canyon PTA to benefit our school and our kids, and in turn, take advantage of the benefits available to our members.

Help Support the PTA With These “Free” FundRaisers!
Boxtops For Education: Yes, it really is worth it to clip those Boxtops! Last year, PTA received over $800 from Box-tops For Education. Look for them every-where on General Mills, Betty Crocker, Ziploc, Kleenex and MANY other products. Clip them and bring them into the collection box in the office!
Target: If you're a Target shopper, please take advantage of Target's School Fundraising Made Simple program. Obtain a Target Guest Card at any Target store, or apply for one at www.target.com. When you shop at Target and purchase your items with the Target Guest Card, 1% of all your purchases will be donated to Deer Canyon PTA.
Office Depot: Mention Deer Canyon to the cashier when purchasing school supplies at Office Depot, and they will donate 5% of your purchase amount directly to Deer Canyon. There is no special card or ID necessary.
E-Scrip: Deer Canyon can earn thousands of dollars to enrich our educational programs through eScrip. It's safe and easy! Hundreds of merchants will donate 1% to 8% of your purchase amount to Deer Canyon Foun-dation when you use your registered credit or debit card. Simply go to www.eScrip.com to register your credit, debit or Vons Club cards and access a list of participating merchants. Our Group ID is 136559132. We'd love to have 100% participation from the families at Deer Canyon.
