GRES Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)
January, 2011 GATE Testing Results: Over 1,500 students participated in the January 2011 GATE Testing. We are still in the process of reviewing tests, parent questionnaires, and teacher questionnaires and hope to have the scoring and reporting process completed by the last week in March. Please continue to check the district GATE website for updates. When completed, your child’s test results will be reported to you via U.S. mail. Thank you for your patience.
Gifted children are those who are exceptional due to their markedly greater than average cognitive potential or ability, and whose exceptionality engenders special educational needs that are not likely to be adequately met through the regular core curriculum. They require a modified, differentiated curriculum in order to ensure their school growth and success. The purpose of GATE services in the PUSD is to identify and motivate highly able students to realize their full potential. The district seeks to formally identify and serve students whose cognitive aptitude is determined to be significantly beyond the level of their peers.
2010-2011 GATE Testing Information
Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) involves services for students whose cognitive needs may require modified classroom curriculum and instruction to accommodate their learning differences and ensure their achievement. Parents may request GATE testing for students in grades 2-7.
