Science Night at Morning Creek
Morning Creek Science Night is coming up Thursday, May 17 from 6:00 – 8:00PM. Perform your own science experiment and display it! See demonstrations from science clubs! Experience cool experiments up close! If you’re interested in showing off your own experiment and display download the Science Night Registration Form and return it to your teacher. Parents and participants, please download and review the Science Night Guidelines.

Mayor Fumiko Hayashi addressed the students, personally expressing her thanks to those who contributed to the making of an encouraging banner and a thousand origami cranes following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. STAR Testing: Get Ready to Show What You Know

We're rolling out the Red Carpet...STAR Testing begins next week! Students are encouraged to get to bed early, eat a healthy breakfast and show show up to school on time ready to "Show What They Know." Running Club will be available before school on Tues 4/17, Thurs 4/19, Tues 4/24, and Thurs 4/26 in addition to regularly scheduled running club days so that students can "warm up their mind." |

Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)
Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) involves services for students whose cognitive needs may require modified classroom curriculum and instruction to accommodate their learning differences and ensure their achievement. Parents may request GATE testing for students in grades 2-7. Updated GATE testing information can be found here.

Hats on Day: 11/18
All students are invited to pay a dollar for the privilege of wearing a hat of their choice to school to help raise cancer awareness. All funds will be donated to the Hats on Day foundation that supports children fighting cancer.
Electronic Waste Recycling Fundraiser
Got some old computers, televisions, or cables lying around? The Poway High School Robotics team is holding another Electronic Waste Recycling Fundraiser on Saturday, November 12th , from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Poway High School, 15500 Espola Road (Parking Lot right of field). This event is sponsored by Poway High School Robotics Team, IMS Recycling, and Sony Electronics Inc. See Flyer for a list of acceptable items. Mention Morning Creek Elementary when you drop off your items, and our school will get some proceeds!

Calling All Artists for PTA Reflections
The theme for this year's PTA Reflections artwork program is "Diversity Means..." Reflect on the theme, create an original work and be recognized! Categories include Photography, Literature, Dance Choreography, Visual Arts, and Film Production. Visit the PTA page to download rules and entry forms. Entries due Tuesday October 25th.
Morning Creek Annual Read-a-Thon Starts 10/3

Our annual Read-A-Thon kicks off Monday, October 3rd. The goal of the Read-A-Thon is to help our children improve their reading skills by reading more frequently, trying different types of books, and having a blast in the process. It is fun for our students and tremendously beneficial to our school. Funds raised will support education curriculum and new technology for our classrooms. Reading Logs/Pledge Forms will come home on Monday the 3rd. Save the date: Barnes & Noble Fundraiser is Saturday, October 15th. |

Gift Wrap Fundraiser
Our annual Gift Wrap fundraiser is underway! It's only been one week and we already have $1800 in sales! Your student brought home a packet from Charleston Wrap on Friday. Please take a look; you can register online and items purchased through the Charleston Wrap website will be shipped directly to your home. There are many new items to choose from this year, so get involved and help support Morning Creek!
September is PTA Membership Month

WE'VE REACHED OUR GOAL! We now have 207 families signed up for PTA. It's not too late to join! The classroom with the highest percentage of PTA families will win an ice cream party in October. School supplies are on sale in local stores! The following are suggested supply lists for the 2011/2012 school year. All donations are voluntary. A donation is not required to participate in any school activity.

Student Lunch Money
- If your child is buying lunch this year, please be sure to send a check on the first day or put money in your child’s account at mylunchmoney.com. Lunch prices have increased to $2.50 this year.
- We have applications for FREE OR REDUCED lunches in the office. These must be filled out each year and all information is confidential.
New Student Enrollment
Beginning Tuesday, July 5, 2011, and continuing through Friday, July 29, 2011, new student enrollment for Kindergarten through 5th Grade will take place at the District Office.
