Welcome to the Morning Creek Elementary Foundation 2011-2012

MCES FoundationThe Morning Creek Foundation is looking forward to another great year. We had such tremendous support by way of volunteers, donors, sponsors, and family participation, that during the 2010-2011 school year, the Foundation raised just over $52,000!

Your donations at work:  Our new construction last summer furnished Promethean Smart Boards in all of the 5th Grade classrooms. The Foundation purchased 9 additional Boards for our 3rd and 4th grade classrooms. They were installed over the summer and are ready to amaze our children.  The Foundation also funded Professional Development training for our teachers to learn many of the great things the Promethean Boards offer to enrich curriculum.  We expanded Compass Learning licensing to include 2nd grade. Not all class rooms have a student computer workstation in them.  Because we feel this is a valuable teaching tool, the Foundation will be purchasing an additional 11 desktop workstations so that each K-3rd grade class will have one student computer, and each 4th-5th grade class will have two student computers. After hearing how beneficial it was providing our teachers with individual assessment and goal setting time, we voted to fund 1.5 release time days again this year. And, of course, we also retained our physical fitness instructional aide, Marsha Santiago, for the upcoming school year.   

During the 2010-2011 school year, the Foundation implemented Compass Learning licensing for all 3rd through 5th grade students.  We also purchased a new 20-unit mobile netbook cart to be used in classrooms, provided partial funding for our Impact Teachers, retained our physical fitness instructional aide, Marsha Santiago, and continued our multi-year contract for the online Reading Plus program.  

The Foundation will continue to strive to fund the most competitive education possible for our children.  We maintain our funding priorities of providing technology in the classroom, academic support, and valuable student services.  Upcoming fundraisers include Bag Tag sales, our 4th Annual Read-A-Thon, Wacky Wednesday Restaurant Nights, Candy Cane Grams, our annual Jog-A-Thon, and our signature auction event, “A Country Affair.”  Please support our fundraising endeavors and join us to help make them a success.  We would love the help and enjoy the company.  If you are interested in volunteering, feel free to contact me at cbkennedy@cox.net.

Morning Creek parents are always welcome at our Foundation meetings. They are held at 6pm in the Colt Meeting Room (formerly the LRC) on the following dates: September 20th; November 15th; January 17th; March 20th; May 15th.  We welcome your suggestions and support.
