Carol Osborne has been the Principal at Morning Creek Elementary since June 2007. She has been an administrator since 1998 and was a classroom teacher for fourteen years before becoming a school administrator.

Background

Carol Osborne grew up in Minnesota and was the first person in her family to attend a four-year university.  Carol graduated from St. Cloud State University, in St. Cloud Minnesota with a B.S. in Education. She taught 1st grade in Walnut Grove, MN and 6th grade in Red Lake Falls, MN before relocating to sunny San Diego. She earned her Master’s in Education at San Diego State University as well as a Reading Specialist credential.
As a classroom teacher, Carol taught kindergarten, first grade and Reading Recovery in San Diego Unified. She was Principal of Brooklyn Elementary and served as the Director of Literacy for San Diego Unified for four years. Carol joined Poway Unified in 2007 so she could return to the principal role and work directly with students, teachers and families.

Carol describes herself as a child’s principal.  “I strive to lead from the heart and make all decisions in the best interest of children.  I believe it is our responsibility as educators to know each child’s strengths and needs.  We must build on their strengths in order to meet their needs.”  Carol demonstrates her focus on children by trying to know each child’s name and greeting them personally.
