How to sign-up:
In the spring each year, 4th grade Students are invited to join Safety Patrol. They need to write a 1 page letter describing why they'd be a good candidate for Safety Patrol. Their teachers need to fill out a recommendation form based on their classroom behavior and academics.
The Safety Patrol supervising advisor then selects 30 candidates.
Once selected, students are placed on squads that perform two-week duty rotations throughout the school year. They are responsible for performing their safety patrol duties during the following times:
Mon., Tues, Wed., Thurs.: 7:30am-8:00am & 2:15pm-2:40pm
Fridays: 7:30-8:00am & 12:35-1:00pm
Students meet with our assigned Poway Sheriffs’ Department representative during the school year to review procedures and practices. These students are trained by our school Safety Patrol Advisor, Mrs. Farrell, to enforce safe crossing to and from school.
