We are dedicated to the intellectual and personal development of all students by providing an academically challenging curriculum within a nurturing, respectful environment.
We want your child’s experience at Oak Valley Middle School to be positive! Good lines of communication are an important part of this. This Family Handbook contains information that will help you throughout the year. Each Friday, we send out our Weekly Update email. This update includes upcoming events at our school and important calendar dates. You can also read our Weekly Update at: http://www.powayusd.com/pusdovms/weeklyupdate.htm. Please note: in an effort to save money, we will be sharing most of our information with you through our webpage and e-mail. If you need hard copies of our weekly updates, please call our office at (858) 487-2939.

Sonya Wrisley's Bio
Sonya Wrisley has been in education for over 20 years. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo and a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration from Cal State University San Bernardino.
Mrs. Wrisley has taught high school and elementary school in Los Angeles County before moving to San Diego. She became an Assistant Principal in the Escondido Union School District before joining Poway Unified School District in 1993. She was Principal of Canyon View Elementary School for five years, and Principal of Mesa Verde Middle School for six years, before being invited to open Oak Valley Middle School.
Sonya feels very fortunate to have known at four years of age that she wanted to teach. It has been her life passion. She feels it is an honor to open Oak Valley and is deeply committed to making this the best possible place for our children.
