What is the "Board," when does it meet, and who can come?
The Board is the group of people who run the PTA. They hold meetings [see meeting schedule] monthly at 6:30 pm in the Library. ANYONE may attend these meetings. Please view the School Calendar to verify monthly meeting dates.
Where does all the money go?
The money is used to purchase items for our school, to pay for improvements (like the murals), and to provide activities such as free books, family art night, book fairs, health and safety activities, and so on.
How do I find out about each event?
First of all, check the school Calendar. We try very hard to get our dates firmed up by the end of the school year to publish in the calendar which is distributed the first day of school. Second, double check this against Stuff You Should Know. Because events are planned a year in advance, sometimes there are changes. Third, check your backpacks! We try to publicize each event with at least two flyers. Then check the newsletter. This is FIVE notifications of each event!
How do I get involved?
That is the EASIEST question of all! Do not sit at home and wait to be asked. Do not roam around school wondering who everyone is. Do not sit on the sidelines and wish you could get to know more people. Pick up the phone TODAY and call our volunteer coordinator, or take a look at the volunteer web page.
You can even call the person over the area where you want to volunteer in,
or contact the PTA president Suzanne Lee-Vigilia at:
suzanne.scpta@gmail.com. We would LOVE to have you work with us. We have big jobs, little jobs, easy jobs, quiet jobs, FUN jobs--CALL!
Why do we have fundraisers? Why are our kids selling? Why can't I just make a flat donation?
This year we have some fundraisers planned. If you do not want to participate in them, feel free to decline. Remember, YOU decide if your kids will participate. If you would rather make a flat donation to the PTA and not participate, merely send in a check made out to "Shoal Creek PTA" in an envelope which says "PTA donation" and that's that! The bottom line is that the money we raise really has benefited our school tremendously.
How can I provide input?
If
you have great ideas about our Programs or PTA in general, you may contact
the PTA president Suzanne Lee-Vigilia at:
suzanne.scpta@gmail.com, or you may drop them by the PTA box in the office. We would WELCOME all wonderful new ideas!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
