Student Council News…With only a couple of weeks left of school, student council STILL has much excitement happening.  The first is our TEACHER STUNTS.  The date is next Friday, June 1st.  Many teachers will be participating in activities that are titled… “What Am I Tasting?”, “Crazy Clowns”, “Sticky Situation”, “Egg-ceptional Relay Race”, and “Food Frenzy”.  Sound fun?  The kids love it.  Stop by the office and donate your spare change to help us offset the cost of the events.  The second activity is the FAMILY PICNIC.  It will be held on Tuesday, June 5th during your student’s lunch time.  Students will be eating on the quad.  Students are welcome to bring towels or blankets to sit on and their parents are welcome to join them. If parents plan on purchasing a lunch and bringing it to school, please plan ahead.  Local “take out” restaurants are VERY busy on this day.

Trailblazer Tidbits…

Many 3rd grade classes had the opportunity to go on a floating lab field trip.  It was an exciting trip which allowed for the third graders to learn all about lots of things.  The first thing was to learn about the safety.  Next, we threw a net into the bay to catch fish and whatever else was in the net.  After a while, we got to learn and touch about all the stuff we caught in the bay including plankton and fish.  Next, we split up into four groups, the stations were plankton sampling, water temperature, mud grabber and touch tank.  The floating lab was a great experience for the third graders as they learned about the ocean.  It was a fun filled day and we enjoyed the experience very much.—submitted by Stephan Abrams, Mrs. Hudson’s 3rd Grade Class

On Wednesday, May 9th, we had the Fun Run!  All of us ran so many laps!  Everybody was sprinting around the field!  Congratulations to the classes that won the ice cream party and the class that won the pizza party!  If you want your class to win the ice cream or pizza party next year, make sure to run more laps.  I know you can do it!  Great job everyone and thank  you for your participation!—submitted by Sahara Mofidi, Mrs. Finnegan’s 3rd Grade Class

Hey Trailblazers! We are fifth grade girls from Girl Scout troop 8319 (Shelby, Rachelle, Amanda, Ailsa, Jordan, and Morgan). For our bronze award project, we decided to help clean up the school for the month of May and the first week of June, and to arrange to keep our cleanup plans going for the years to come. There are tons of weeds and trash on our campus. So, we started a club called I {Heart} a Clean School. We would love it if you could join too! We have been cleaning the school every Monday and we have one more clean up day scheduled for Monday, June 4th. Our clean up times are from 2:30-4:30 pm. If you can't make the whole thing you can leave early. If you are interested, meet us in the lunch court on Monday, June 4th. Make sure to bring sunscreen, gardening gloves (if you have them), a hat if you want to bring one, a snack, and a water bottle. Hope to see you there!

I am a student at Stone Ranch in second grade.  I thought being a student in I7 was a great experience because my teacher was so nice when she was teaching me.  My classroom was full of smart students and I liked that.  Being a second grader, I got to go on fun field trips.  My fondest memory was the colorful flower fields trip.  There was an ancestry unit that my classroom studied and it was my favorite because I learned about my family.  I am looking forward to being a third grader and finding out what friends are in my class and what field trips we will go on.  I will miss Mrs. Hodel and all of my friends in I7 the most.  This summer I plan to read and do flash cards so I am ready for third grade.  I hope that Mrs. Hodel remembers that I have tried hard in class and never gave up.  Stone Ranch is a fun and great school.  Kyley Brandt, 2nd Grade.

Safety Reminder

  1. Drop your student off in the drop off loops or walk them to the gate closest to the playground (by the Character Counts benches).  Students may also enter campus at the gate adjacent to the community playground below Stone Ranch.  Parents are encouraged to drop their students off at the gate, and not enter the campus.  There will be staff supervision on the playground before school.  Students will be allowed on the play structures or to sit at the tables and benches; children will not be allowed to play soccer or kickball before the start of school.

  2. These two gates will open at 7:40 and all students will go directly to the playground with their backpacks.  Students who attend class in buildings B, C, D, E, and F will not be dropping their backpacks off at the classrooms.   Students in building G, I, and H will quietly drop their backpacks off at class.

  3. At 7:53, the first bell will ring.  Students who are on the playground will then walk to pick up their backpacks.  At this time, three gates will open for students to walk to class: the gate by the B ranch house, the gate by ESS and the gate behind the F ranch house.  For students on the playground, kindergarten and first grade will go through the gate by ESS; grades 3, 4, and 5 will enter through the gate behind the F ranch house.  Any students arriving on campus after 7:53 will proceed directly to their classrooms.  At 7:55 teachers will allow students into their classroom.

  4. All gates will be locked at 8:00 and late students and parent volunteers will enter through the front office.
