Programs offered at Twin Peaks

Before/After School Program
Twin Peaks Middle School offers your student before and after school academic and extracurricular opportunities during the school year. All programs are made possible by the After-School Education and Safety grant and are free of charge. Attendance guidelines require that students attend the program for the full duration 5 days per week or a minimum of 3 days per week before and/or after-school.

Assoicated Student Body ~ ASB
The Associated Student Body (ASB) cabinet provides provides for student activities, serves as training experience for student leaders, promotes the common good for all students, gives students a share in the management of the school, develops high ideals of personal conduct, acts as a clearing house for student activities, seeks to interest students in school affairs, and helps solve problems that may arise.

AVID
AVID is a unique program, unlike any other.  AVID is the ONLY program for students in the academic middle— not at-risk, not remedial, not GATE.  AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination.  It is an international program started by San Diego teacher, Mary Catherine Swanson.  AVID is a 7-12th grade program that prepares students to attend and graduate from a 4-year university.

Band

Choir
Students will learn how to sing—no experience needed! Students will participate in a choral music experience in which they share and work toward a common goal—that being performance of the highest quality. Our TPMS Choir will perform with the Poway HS choirs at our performances this school year in the Poway Center for the Performing Arts.

California Junior Scholastic Federation (CJSF)
CJSF is a statewide organization that fosters high standards of scholarship, service and citizenship. It gives the student the opportunity to participate in activities that benefit the school, community and the students. Participants receive special recognition on their diplomas from middle school and encouraged to continue membership in high school.

GATE
Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) involves services for students whose cognitive needs may require modified classroom curriculum and instruction to accommodate their learning differences and ensure their achievement.

K-RAM
-K-RAM is be divided into student groups, where all students will be working together to produce the highest quality student television broadcast production. K-RAM is 100% hands-on where students learn real-life skills to succeed in today’s technological work force.

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
Science Olympiad students participate in exciting, challenging and fun events to learn scientific problem solving in a team environment.
