EARLY CHECK OUT

Please try to schedule appointments after school hours.  Students arriving late to class or leaving class early disrupt the classroom.  If your student must leave campus early, please let the teacher know in the morning so they can have your student sent up to the office on time.  Please do not call the office to have your student dismissed, we will call when you arrive.

REMINDERS...

All visitors to our campus must check in through the Administration Office at the front of the school.

WHEN SHOULD MY CHILD STAY HOME FROM SCHOOL?

Please take a few minutes at home to carefully check your child’s health before he/she leaves for school each morning. The following are a few suggestions, which may help to guide you:

REASONS TO KEEP YOUR CHILD AT HOME!

~Illness during the night
~Fever is present (100 degrees or greater)
~Complaints of nausea, upset stomach, vomiting, headache, diarrhea prior to leaving for school
~Development of a rash on face and/or body
~Has a severe cold, cough and/or sore throat
~Has inflamed eye(s) with discharge from them

Please Remember: An ill child cannot function properly in the classroom. The spread of illness and disease through class or school can be more easily monitored if sick children remain at home during the acute stage of an illness. If the school health tech detects any of the above, your child will be sent home.

People with influenza-like illness are to remain home until at least 24 hours after they are free of fever (100o F [37.8o C]) without the use of fever-reducing medications.

A student’s absence should be reported on the School Absence Hotline by calling: (858) 674-6300 press #2.

CONGRATULATIONS WILLOW GROVE STAFF OF THE YEAR!
While we have an outstanding staff that support students in an amazing way every day, Willow Grove selects two staff members each year to represent us as Teacher and Classified Staff of the Year. Congratulations this year to Theresa Abueg, one of our awesome second grade teachers, and Kelley Magill, our awesome Administrative Assistant!

PARENT DAUGHTER DANCE
The PTA is proud to say the first Parent Daughter Dance was a success! It was a heartfelt evening with families gathered together. Thank you, Grace Fisher, for decorating the MPR making it a magical place. Thank you to the families who donated water and sweets and to Kathleen Higgins and Erin Leventhal for the donation of your belly tables. These donations helped to enhance the evening and keep us on budget!! What a grrreat Grizzly community!

CALLING ALL SACRAMENTO TRAVELERS!
There will be a mandatory parent meeting for Sacramento on Tuesday, March 10th, at 8:00 a.m. or 4:00 p.m. to review our travel itinerary and complete all of the necessary paperwork. Please plan on joining Mrs. Taylor in room B4.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. SEUSS!
Literacy Day is this Friday, February 27th. Mrs. Huff will start the day out with a story time in the MPR at 8:40 a.m. Please come early for this special morning with Mrs. Huff as she shares some of her favorite books with our Grizzlies. After Friday morning announcements, we will have a school-wide Drop-Everything-And-Read time. Students will be estimating how many pages we will read as a school. Be sure to wear your pajamas!!!

DONATE YOUR USED BOOKS ON LITERACY DAY
We will be accepting your used books donations curbside on the morning of Literacy Day, February 27th.

TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN INTEREST WAIT LIST
Parents of children with a fifth birthday between June 1st and September 1st, 2015 who wish to enroll their child into a TK class, MUST place their name on a District Interest Wait List. On our District website, select Parents, under Programs, select Transitional Kindergarten. Then select TK Interest Wait List to put your child's name on the list. Please note that the TK Interest Wait List opens March 2, 2015 at 8:00 am. The assigned TK school site will notify parents on the Interest List of an opening in TK. The parent will then be given 48 hours to enroll. Due to increased numbers of students required to enroll in TK, please note space is very limited and will be determined on a first-come, first served basis.

SCIENCE NIGHT WILL BE OUT OF THIS WORLD!
Save the date for our annual PTA Sponsored Family Science Night on March 12th from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Reuben H. Fleet Science will be joining us this year with some exciting new changes for Science Night!
