Coach Champoux
graduated from Mira Mesa High School in 1990, where he played football and
baseball. He was Team Captain, MVP and named All-Eastern League. Drafted by the
New York Mets in 1992, he opted to play college ball. In 1993, while playing
shortstop
for San Diego Mesa College, he was named All-American, All-State, and
Team MVP. Coach Champoux went to Oklahoma State University in 1994-1995, where
they won consecutive Big Eight Titles, and took second to Cal State Fullerton
and then Tennessee in the Regional Championships in '94 and '95. He played
professional baseball in the Northern League (Sioux Falls Canaries in 1995 and
Duluth-Superior Dukes in 1996). He has coached at the college level for Oklahoma
State and San Diego Mesa. He was the Head JV Coach at Rancho Bernardo High
School in 1998, and the Head JV Coach at Poway High School from 2000-2001. He
has also coached the San Diego Sting Travel Ball Team, where they took 3rd in
the USA World Series in 2001 and 4th in 2002. This is his 5th year
as head coach at Westview High School. Coach Champoux has a BS Degree in
Physical Education from Oklahoma State University and a Masters Degree in
Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University.
Assistant Varsity Coach - Brian Stimpson
Coach
Stimpson graduated from Mt. Carmel High in 1998. He was
team captain his senior season and was voted Honorable
Mention All-Palomar League where he went on to play in
the Palomar/Avocado League all star game. After high
school he attended California Lutheran University where
he was a part of the Division III College World Series
3rd place team his freshman year. He was a part of three
consecutive SCIAC championship teams and was voted team
captain his senior season where the Kingsmen went 30-10.
Brian was head freshman coach at Westview in 2003 and
2004, assistant varsity coach at Clairemont High School
in 2005, and returned to Westview in 2006 to be the head
JV coach. In addition he was also the head coach of the
Scripps Ranch Falcon travel baseball team from 2003-2006
where those teams placed 1st or 2nd in 11 tournaments
during his tenure including winning the Las Vegas
Nationals in 2004, placed 2nd in Division 2 at the
Triple Crown World Series in 2005, and 9th in the nation
at the Division 1 Triple Crown World Series in 2006.
Coach Stimpson has a B.S. in Social Science from Cal
Lutheran University, teaching credentials in Social
Science and Special Education from Chapman University
and a Masters Degree in Special Education by the summer
of 2007.
Varsity
Pitching Coach - Coach Edwards
Coach Edwards pitched the 1999 and 2000 seasons as the
No. 1 starter for CSU Sacramento in the Big West
Conference. In his most memorable performances, Edwards
beat the University of Hawaii in Honolulu on February 4,
1999 when he surrendered one hit in eight innings; he
threw a seven-hit, complete-game, 9-1 victory over San
Jose State on February 19, 1999 and he pitched seven
innings of three-hit, shutout ball to defeat UC Santa
Barbara, 13-0, in March 2000.
While attending CSU, Sacramento, he was honored as CSU
Sacramento’s Male Student-Athlete of the Year in 1998-99
and received the Fred and Pat Anderson Award as the
University’s Male Student Athlete with the Highest
Grade-Point Average for both the 1998-99 and 1999-2000
academic years. In addition, he was the recipient of the
Big Sky Conference Outstanding Scholar Athlete award for
both 1998-99 and 1999-2000. Coach Edwards was also
named to the National Dean’s List in 1999-2000.
Prior to attending CSU Sacramento, Edwards, a 16-game
winner in two seasons at Palomar College, was 9-2 with a
2.67 earned run average in 1998 as the Comets went 31-8
and won the Pacific Coast Conference Championship. An
All-Southern California selection, Edwards was also
selected First-Team Pacific Coast Conference and
Runner-Up Pacific Coast Conference Player of the Year in
1998. Additionally, he was Palomar College’s Male
Scholar Athlete of the Year for all sports both the
1996-97 and 1997-98 academic years; the Pacific Coast
Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Year for all
sports in 1997-98 and was one of nine male finalists for
the 1997-98 Governor Pete Wilson Award. The Wilson Award
is given to the Outstanding Community College Scholar
Athlete in California. In May 2005 Edwards was named to
the Palomar College All-Time Baseball Team. In 2001 he
returned to Palomar College as pitching coach and began
working individually with pitchers.
Edwards graduated from CSU Sacramento, Magna Cum Laude,
in December 2000 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Business Administration. In May 2005, Edwards graduated
from the University of San Diego School of Law.

Mike Hymes
Mike is a local product
who graduated from Torrey Pines High School in 1996. He attended UCLA for three
years and Loyola Marymount University for one while returning to UCLA from where
he graduated in March 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. While at
Torrey Pines, Mike garnered four Varsity letters in baseball, and two letters in
football...earned first-team all-league honors his junior and senior seasons in
baseball...was named first-team all-CIF his senior year...that same year, he
received the Coca-Cola Gold Glove award and was selected to the 619 Area Code
all-star team...he started as a freshman in baseball, only the third player to
do so in school history...also earned first-team All-North County and All-League
accolades in football as a senior...was also selected to play in the San Diego
County Alex Spanos All-Star Football Classic. While at UCLA, Mike played 3
seasons and participated in the 1997 College World Series in Omaha Nebraska.
After spending 3 season at UCLA, Mike transferred to Loyola Marymount
University. Summer 2000, Mike played for the Sonoma County Crushers of the
Western Professional Baseball League. Summer 2001, Mike played for the
Greenville Bluesmen of the Texas-Louisiana Professional Baseball League. Spring
2002, Mike was an assistant coach for the Torrey Pines High School Freshman
squad. In addition to Mike’s on-field coaching, he is also a hitting instructor
at Valley Baseball School and Softball Academy in Sorrento Valley.
Personal:
Mike was born on May 25, 1978 in Boston MA. He is the son of Robert
and Nancy Hymes and has one sister who attends USC.
He helped his team win the
Continental Amateur Baseball Association World Series at ages 13 and 14 and is the
head coach for the 14 and under AABC Scripps Ranch Falcons Baseball Club. Mike
has a Bachelors degree from UCLA and has received his teaching credential and
Master’s in Education from National University. This is Mike’s 5th year as an
Assistant on the Varsity team.
Head JV Coach -
Chachi Mueller
Coach Mueller graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in
1996. He played on back-to-back CIF championship teams
and was voted Honorable Mention All-Palomar League.
Coach Mueller was also named 1st-team All-CIF and
1st-team All-Palomar League in soccer his senior year.
After graduating, Coach Mueller began coaching at Mt.
Carmel High School as he attended San Diego State
University. He coached for the Sundevils for 6 seasons,
beginning as a Freshman Assistant Coach and coaching his
last two years as the Head JV Coach. After graduating
from SDSU with a degree in English, Coach Mueller was
accepted into the Teach for America program and began
teaching middle school in Phoenix, Arizona. After his
two-year commitment, Coach Mueller returned to San Diego
and began teaching and coaching at Westview. Currently
the JV Coach, Coach Mueller also coaches with the
Lookouts program and works with the 16U and 13U Black
teams. He is entering his 10th year of high school
coaching.
Assistant JV Coach - Gary Beare
Gary
Beare is in his second year as Varsity Pitching Coach at
Westview. He and his wife Sandee have been married for
31 years. They have two
sons: Greg 27, Matthew 24. Gary was born and raised in
San Diego and graduated from Kearney High School in
1970. His jersey, number 29, was retired a few years
ago.
He attended
San
Diego Mesa 1971-1972,
CSU
Long Beach 1973-1974. He was drafted in June 1974 by the
Milwaukee Brewers in the 5th round.
Major league: Milwaukee Brewers 1976-1977,
Winter Baseball in Caracas & Maricaibo, Venezuela, one
year in the Mexican League for the Nuevo Laredo
Tecolotes. He worked as an Engineer
at General Dynamics, Convair Division for 10 years, a
Teacher in the Poway Unified School District for 15
years at Abraxas High School.
He is currently an Account Manager at the San
Diego Union Tribune.
He has turned
down professional coaching jobs to be at home with his
family. He has coached Little League, Poway High School,
San Pasqual High School, and Mira Mesa High School.
Memories: “My dad, mom and wife seeing my first big
league baseball game. My dad was the best person I have
ever met!”
Head
Freshmen Coach -
Kevin Frank
Coach
Frank graduated from Escondido School in 1994 where he
lettered and was All-Avocado league in football,
basketball, and baseball for the Cougars. Upon
graduating, Frank attended and played baseball for two
years at Point Loma Nazarene College. Frank then
transferred to Palomar College and continued his playing
career for the Comets, batting over .300 helping the
Comets to the Pacific Coast Conference Championship.
This is Coach Frank’s first year with the Wolverines,
third year coaching high school baseball, after spending
two prior seasons at Poway High School coaching at both
the freshman and junior varsity levels.

Freshmen Coach -
Walt Snyder
Coach Snyder is a
native of San Diego and a Vietnam-era veteran of the US
Navy (1973-1979). He has coached baseball for various
travel ball teams including the Lookouts Program. He is
currently employed in the Scripps Ranch area in Sales
and Recruiting for the insurance industry. This is
Walt’s 6th year in the program.
