Non-Academic Interventions

  1. Counselors
    Counselors should be contacted for concerns regarding:
    · Emotional abuse
    · Physical abuse
    · Substance abuse
    · Depression 

  2. Smoking Cessation Groups
    These groups are for identified students who are motivated to quit smoking. A step by step process is utilized to help students experience success with smoking cessation. Any concerned individual may refer. Self-referrals are also welcome. Contact Pam Roth in Student Services, ext. 3292.

  3. Decision Making Class
    This class is for referred at-risk students. Students will learn responsible decision making processes. Contact Pam Roth in Student Services, ext. 3292.

  4. General Support Groups
    Identified students will meet once a week to exchange mutual support, often focusing on a shared area of difficulty. Parents, students, or staff members are welcome to request placement in a support group. Contact Pam Roth in Student Services, ext. 3292.

  5. Homeroom
    All students are enrolled in a homeroom for the four years they attend Westview. The homeroom teacher serves as the point of contact for the student regarding attendance and dissemination of school information. The goal is that the student will develop a connection to the homeroom teacher, providing an adult on campus the student can go to. Contact your student’s homeroom teacher via telephone or email.

  6. Student Services
    A variety of assistance options are offered through Westview’s Student Services Office. Students may access help to quit smoking, find group support, line up peer tutoring and counseling, or drop by for a snack. Contact Pam Roth in Student Services, ext. 3292 for assistance.
