TO ALL RETURNING MARCHING BAND STUDENTS:
Uniform fittings are now over. It is your responsibility to make sure you are prepared for marching season!

IF YOU MISSED BEING FITTED FOR A MARCHING BAND UNIFORM:
Come to either day of our freshmen fittings: Thurs. 6/22 (8am-6pm) or Friday 6/23 (8am-5pm) OR come to the make up fitting on Monday 8/21 at 7pm right after band camp.

IF YOU WERE FITTED FOR KHAKI PANTS AND SHORTS BUT DID NOT PAY:
Come to either one of the freshmen fittings listed above. OR
If you can't make either one of those days, go to Educational Outfitters directly at 858-566-5437 7190 Miramar Road. If you do not pay by Monday 6/26 your items will be returned to stock and you will not have a travel uniform for the July 4 Parade or Band Camp
NOTE: your student received a printout of the costs of these items so ask them for it and you'll know how much to make the check for/payable to Educational Outfitters

IF YOU ORDERED SHOES, WERE FITTED FOR GLOVES OR NEED A POLO, LOCK, OR STADIUM JACKET BUT DID NOT PAY:
Come to either one of the freshmen fittings listed above and bring a check made out to WESTVIEW for the items you need. If you wait until the makeup uniform fittings to pay (8/21) you will need to pay an additional $10 for express shipping.

Last Week of School

Look for packets coming home with your students - you'll find valuable information about Band Camp and Fair Share Contributions for next year, among other things.

Monday the 19th is the 2nd day for Uniform Fitting for returning students. More information is given below.

On Tuesday the 20th, Miss Webb is holding auditions for Wind Ensemble. She asked me to pass on the following information:

Auditions for Wind Ensemble requirements:

major scales – 2 octaves, memorized
melodic minor scales – 1 octave, memorized
piece of solo literature (not memorized) or feature selection from Westview Concert (memorized)
sight-reading

Sign-ups for appointments are on the white board.

Last but not least, please join me in congratulating our graduating seniors. We are going to miss them so much, but we send our thoughts and prayers to each and every one of them for a fabulous future. PLEASE come back and visit us!

Returning Marching Band Students:
You will be fitted for uniforms in the band room during your class periods on:
Friday June 16 and Monday June 19

Incoming Freshmen Marching Band Students:
You will be fitted in the Westview band room for uniforms on
Thursday June 22 (8am-8pm) and Friday June 23 (8am-5pm)

YEAR END BANQUET

Hats off to Laura Scheid and her incredible team of parent volunteers for planning a fantastic year end banquet. Student Leadership did a phenomenal job encapsulating the great work of the students and coaches. Miss Webb and Miss Lazzari have much to be proud of - the hard work of the last four years really shows.

Ron Salzetti - thank you for putting together another fantastic year-end DVD. We are selling copies of the year-end DVD for only $10 a copy. Use the DVD Order Form to order your DVD.

And thank you to Jay Tillson for putting together the Senior Tribute - anyone who wants a copy of the tribute can get one by contacting Jay at jtillson@pacbell.net Cost is $5 - checks payable to "Westview Foundation".

Hi Westview Gold Bands, Orchestra and Color Guard!

It's that exciting time to prepare our student's attire for the fall marching and concert season! Parents are needed to be on our Westview Gold Uniform Team. Please join me in meeting the students for uniform fittings, helping to "pluck plumes" at football games, and helping our students look good for concert season.

Below is a schedule to get things started. Please respond to Sue Downs with the time you have available (a lot, or a little...it all helps!)

Congratulations!

To IMP (Indoor Marching Percussion) and their directors, Michael Atesalp and Tollak Rafto. The group placed 4th out of 32 high school groups in their division! This is a great accomplishment. Thanks for making us proud!

To Jennifer Delizo and Melinda Wheelock on receiving Superior ratings at the SCSBOA Regional Solo Ensemble Festival held at USC. Congratulations also go to Jennifer's clarinet quartet on their Superior rating: Samantha Adriano, Melanie Garces, Jennica Vargas and Jennifer Delizo.

To Justin Scheid on having his composition "I Wonder"; recognized at the national level of the PTSA Reflections program for Excellence.

Band Lettering Criteria
The criteria for lettering in either band, orchestra, or color guard, along with an application for lettering, can be found in the student handbook which is located in the Music Box on this website. Lettering applications are due by Friday, May 19, 2006.

Westwind Brass Clinic – May 25 – 3:30 to 5:30 Westview bandroom

(required performance for all but our graduates)
