Westview Band Scrip News

Think of Scrip as substitute money.  Scrip is issued by hundreds of local and national retailers. Westview Gold purchases it at a discount which is passed on to your student account (85% of discount) and the general band fund (15%).  Families generate revenue through purchases that they would already make--groceries, clothing, toys, GIFTS, and even gas. Discount usually range from 2% to 15% or higher!

Most scrip is in the form of the plastic gift cards that are available everywhere, so they are easily used and great for the upcoming holidays, birthdays, and celebrations. Some of the more popular cards are from:

As you can see from the list, just about anything can be purchased with Scrip/Gift Cards. Keep some cards on hand for the stores you frequent the most.

The  Westview order form lists retailers in categories, and I've chosen the most popular ones in our area to put on it. But if you need gifts for relatives and friends across the country, please visit the scrip website at www.glscrip.com  for a complete list of retailers. (Note--please order through the Westview order form--just add them onto the bottom or back!)

Here’s how it works for a sample Order:

You pay $335 for scrip that is WORTH $335; the discount is $19.30---$16.41 goes into your student's account; $2.89 goes into the band fund. (85% and 15%) This is money you would have spent anyway for the month.

Remember, you can benefit both your student's band account as well as the general band fund by purchasing scrip/gift cards through Westview Gold. To steadily increase your student's account, try to order monthly for the stores/restaurants where you go the most!

Orders will be placed monthly on the following dates: October 23rd, November 13th, December 4th, January 22nd, February 26th, March 26th, April 23rd, and May 21st. Orders take about 10 days to be processed. The order form and more information are on the website under Fundraisers.

When you purchase giftcards from the Westview Gold Boosters, you can earn money for both the Boosters and your Student's Account.

It's easy. Here's how it works:

1. Fill out the current ORDER FORM with the cards you want and the denominations of the cards. Remember, you only pay the regular, face value of the giftcard. Westview Gold benefits by the retailer's making a donation to our program. You could keep a giftcard handy for all your purchases at places like Starbucks, Peet's Coffee, Home Depot, Macy's, Baja Fresh, Jamba Juice, etc.
2. Write your check to Westview Foundation for the price of the giftcards.
3. Orders will be placed monthly on the following dates:  October 23rd, November 13th, December 4th, January 22nd, February 26th, March 26th, April 23rd, and May 21st.. Turn in your order form & check to the band room white box in an envelope marked "Attn: Scrip / Giftcard Coordinator"
4. The Scrip / Giftcard Coordinator will then place the orders after each week. It takes about 10 days for the gift cards to be delivered.
5. The Scrip / Giftcard Coordinator will call you and make arrangements to pick up your giftcards.

You can order a giftcard from any retailer listed on the http://www.glscrip.com/ site; just add the retailer to your order sheet.  You can buy gifts for friends and family who live all across the country, and earn money for your student account (to help pay for fair share, music lessons etc)..

Try to think of Scrip when you are making your everyday purchases, not just gifts, so use them when you grocery shop, clothes shopping, or drug store purchases and support Westview Gold.
