Indoor Marching Percussion
“The Art of War!”
This year's IMP (Indoor Marching Percussion) ensemble is sure to impress even the toughest tournament judges! Under the direction of Mike Atesalp, 30 Westview band and orchestra students have formed Westview’s Indoor Marching Percussion/Drum Line. We are fortunate to also have the coaching expertise of Mike Fortin-Drums, Nicole Olson-Front Ensemble, Geoff Radant and Jim Rogers-Visual. This group of percussionists have been rehearsing a routine similar to a half-time show every Monday and Wednesday from 6-9pm. The difference is that it consists of only percussion instruments and the performers are dressed like Futuristic Techno Ninjas! The routine is a combination of precision moves, artful dance, and great percussion music!
This year, IMP will compete in 8 tournaments. Additionally, Westview will host the first Indoor Marching Percussion Tournament in San Diego under the Southern California Percussion Alliance (SCPA) on Saturday, March 10, 2007 featuring groups from all over Southern and Central California (currently we have 31 high schools attending!). Please come to see some of the most amazing percussion “theatre” ever. You won’t be disappointed! Tickets are $7 and will be sold at the door, around campus and at Booster Meetings.
