Concert Band I

Concert Band I is a course for students who have completed Concert Band II (fromally known as Freshman Band) coursework. Activities include marching band Quarter I (students receive Marching Band credit), preparation for the Solo & Ensemble Festival, continuation of musical skills Quarter II, and auditions for Concert Band I or Wind Ensemble Quarter III and IV. Advanced literature is studied and performed at concerts and festivals. Course of study includes harmony, composition, ear training and improvisation. This is a performance class, and students are expected to participate in all band activities. This course may be used to meet the UC/CSU “F” or “G” requirement and the PUSD Fine Arts requirement.
