Introduction
This
WebQuest was made to give students an opportunity to learn about other
countries and the culture of the people that live there.
Learners
This
WebQuest was designed for second and third grade, but can be easily adapted
for grades two through five. This project integrates Science/Habitats--Social
Studies/Cultures-- and Communication Arts/Reading, Oral Speaking/Writing
and Technology.

Needed
- Good resources to start
off the WebQuest is the the reading and discussion with the class,
the books Children Just Like Me (In association with UNICEF The
United Nations Children's Fund) by Barnabas and Anabel
Kindersley.DK Publishing Book,New York 1995 and If the World Were
a Village (A Book about the World's People) by David J. Smith.
Kids Can Press Ltd.Tonawanda, NY 2002.
- The
students will need individual, copies of the log to record
information. Printed off directly from WebQuest.
- They will
need 1-2x18 piece of poster board to make their window frame from.
- Notebook
paper to write a group paragraph.
Evaluation
Evaluation
of student achievement will be done mainly by the students themselves by
using the point system rubric under "How did you do?". The
teacher can evaluate the oral presentation of posters, paragraph and the
letter or e-mail correspondence to check level of achievement.
Conclusion
This
WebQuest was designed to answer the question "Would
you like to trade places with another kid from another country?"
