What's going on in room 18???

Welcome to Morning Creek Elementary School located in the beautiful city of San Diego, California.   We have 32 students in our fifth grade class this year.  Our Daily Schedule includes:  Language, Writing, Literature, Wordly Wise, Math,  Social Studies (United States history), P.E., Art, Band, and Science.    Our primary focus this year is preparing each child to be independent and readyfor next year. 

Science--

Science is 2 times a week.  We cover matter, life cycles, weather, and much more.  Science will be a rotation where each teacher will cover one topic.

Language Arts--

Preparing for the demands that you'll face next year, we are going to continue practicing with our writing skills.   We will work on various types of genres in writing.  

Our Houghton Mifflin reading program includes many  interesting stories, and it really works on teaching strategies to improve comprehension.  We will also read literature books through our Hot Chocolate Chats which we have weekly.

Math--

We are now using the Houghton mifflin Math Expression program.  

Social Studies--

In Social Studies we will be covering US History from the early natives up through colonization .
