Story time paragraphs

In groups of 4, you will each write a separate paragraph to the story.  About every 5-10 minutes, you will switch to someone else's story and write a paragraph of it.  The contents of the paragraphs are as follows.  For example, if you are working on someone's third paragraph then you must write about the details described below for paragraph 3 for their story.  The more silly or outrageous you make the story, the more fun it can become.

Paragraph 1 - Set the stage of the story by creating a conflict.  You will need to come up with some kind of characters and describe some kind of situation that needs to be resolved by the end of the story.

Paragraph 2 - Using the above conflict, you now complicate the situation.  Something happens or a series of events somehow makes the problem/conflict worse.  Describe that situation or events.

Paragraph 3 - One of the characters makes an attempt at solving the problem, but it does not work. The solution fails to solve the problem; maybe it makes the problem worse maybe it solves only part of the problem, maybe both parties in the conflict make an attempt at solving the same problem at the same time in different ways.

Paragraph 4 - Something happens or someone does something that finally solves the problem.  Describe the process or the details of how the problem was solved.

Paragraph 5 - Conclude the story and reflect upon the solution and situation.  What did we learn from the conflict and its solution.

Then each group member will read their story to their group.  The group will select the best story from their group.  The best stories from the groups will be posted on LearningPoint.  The class will read each story and vote on the best one.  The winning story will then be posted on LearningPoint.  The group who's story wins, will receive extra credit.  You cannot vote for your story.
