Guidelines for Conferences 2009

See STEP 3 For PACKET DIRECTIONS

Check to see what time your conference is on the Conference Calendar!

Step One:

After your conference, using complete sentences, type up answers to the following personal reflections:

Personal Reflections:

1.       What do you know you do well?

2.  What is a challenge for you?

3.  What habits do you need to break or areas you need to focus on?

4.  What hinders you from completing your homework?

5.  Are you satisfied with your grades?  Why or why not?

6.  Read over the Citizenship and Work Habits rubrics that you highlighted in class.  Reflect on your citizenship and work habits rubrics.  (THINK HARD!)  What did you highlight?  What can you change?  What makes you proud?  Type one paragraph reflecting on your citizenship, and one paragraph reflecting on your work habits.

Step Two:

Hold your conference with at least one parent (both, if possible).  Sit together at a table.  Whether you hold your conference at home or at school with us, have a snack and make it relaxed and fun.  Note, conferences are required to be held at school with either Mrs. Kangas or Mrs. Milling if you hold a C or lower in either of our classes.
At your conference discuss the following:

v     Responses to the Personal Reflections including self-evaluation and reflections on the Citizenship and Work Habits rubrics

v     Share MAPs scores

v     Discuss concerns or praises about your performance

v     Plans to improve your performance

v    Make sure all people at the conference have time to talk and share

Step Three:

After your conference, put together a TYPED packet that includes the following:

1.  Title Page
2.  6 complete answers to Personal Reflection Questions above
3.  Parent Evaluation
4.  Post Conference Student Reflection that includes the following:
How did your conference go?  Why?
What did your parents learn about you from this conference?
What did you learn about yourself from this conference?

Packet Due:  Tuesday, November 10, 2009
