The “How to” Poem
Use the textbook, your notes and new knowledge to
create a “How to” poem on Lewis & Clark.
1.
Brainstorm
some of the most important facts about Lewis & Clark. Choose facts you think truly embody what
their experience was like.
2. Next
make a list of qualities or qualifications explorers like Lewis & Clark
must have.
3. Write
your poem by arranging facts and qualities as if you are instructing someone
“how to” be just like Lewis & Clark.

How to be Martin Luther
King, Jr.
Believe in what is right.
Fight for equality without using your fists.
Speak with such passion that
decades later people are still moved by your words.
Forgive those that fail to understand the value of
all people.
Even when facing possible assassination continue to
be courageous and strong.
Always be remembered.
