Teen Adventure Travel Brochure

Lots of kids know about the upcoming trip to Washington, D.C.  Many companies try to sell spring break or other trips to teen groups.  What if you could plan your own trip for a group of teens?  Designing and planning trips and events are exciting jobs that require lots of thinking and technical writing.  For this assignment, you are going to plan and design a Teen Travel Adventure Tour.  Your job will be to create an interesting and exciting itinerary for a 7-10 day trip to a region of your choice.  The following websites are specifically geared toward teen travel.  Check them out for some ideas:

All About Visiting Earth is a company that does teen adventure travel tours.

Costa Rica adventures

Cool service-minded trips with indigenous peoples from different places

Fun adventure trips around North America

If you type “teen travel itinerary” into any search engine, you won’t believe what you’ll find!  IMPORTANT NOTE:  YOU CANNOT COPY AND PASTE.  WE WILL BE CHECKING!  YOU MUST INVENT YOUR OWN ITINERARY!

Choose one region and create an itinerary.  To plan a good trip, you will need to incorporate a mix of activities, and you’ll need to balance adventure, travel time (from place to place within your region), down time (to relax and hang out), educational opportunities such as historical sites, museums, etc. (why else will their parents pay for it?  Plus it’s fun to learn this way!).

Create an advertising brochure to entice teens to take your trip. Lots of companies offer these kinds of trips—you need to “sell” this trip!  Give them a glimpse of what they’ll do day-by-day, including activities, hotels, food, and sites.

1.     Fold an 8 ½ x11 sheet of white paper into thirds.

2.     On the outside flap, write a memorable slogan, enticing teens to take your trip above all others.  Place your name, date and class section on the cover.  Illustrate your cover.

3.     Open the paper and label the three flaps:

v ACTIVITIES (water skiing?  Bungie-jumping?  SCUBA diving? Seeing concerts?  The choices are endless!  Pick things you like!)

v ITINERARY (including transportation and all costs)

v SITES (You must include at least two historical points of interest)

4.  On each flap, you should include a factual & descriptive paragraphs/bullets about each topic.  This writing should be done in final draft form.  A colorful picture should accompany each section.
