The Pearl by John Steinbeck

Compact Disk Project—REG directions

Since Steinbeck makes it clear that music is an important part of Kino and the people of the village, it will be the focus of your final project.  In order to promote your project, you must complete the following:

1.      Choose an appropriate name for your group/band.  The name of your group/band must have some direct reference to a person, place or event from the book.

2.      Compile a list of 10 songs to be included on your group’s CD.  All song titles must have some reference to a person, place, thing, theme, or conflict from the book.

3.      Design a colorful, eye-catching CD cover.  The front cover must include the name of your group, feature one song title, and have an appropriate illustration or graphic.

On the back cover, list the 10 songs included on the CD.  Put the copyright symbol with the year, and your name as the producer.

4.  Write the lyrics for two songs.  You may type the songs on an index card or in a circle to resemble an actual disk.  Include the title of the song and two verses of 4 to 8 lines (each song then must be 8 to 16 lines total).  Slip the index card/ disk insi8de the CD cover.

Most importantly…be creative!

Use the book as your “Behind the Music” guide.

You will be graded on your ability to follow directions, the content of your project as well as the presentation (see Rubric).
