The “How to” Poem

Lewis & Clark

Use the textbook, your notes and new knowledge to create a “How to” poem on Lewis & Clark.  Follow the directions below to create a unique, yet factual poem…

1.      Brainstorm some of the most important facts about Lewis & Clark.  Choose facts you think truly embody what their experience was like.

2.      Next make a list of qualities or qualifications explorers like Lewis & Clark must have.

3.      Write your poem by arranging facts and qualities as if you are instructing someone “how to” be just like Lewis & Clark.

4.     Your poem should be at least 8-10 lines long, in final draft form.

How to be Martin Luther King, Jr.

Believe in what is right.

Fight for equality without using your fists.

Speak with such passion that decades later people are still moved by your words.

Forgive those that fail to understand the value of all people.

Even when facing possible assassination continue to be courageous and strong.

Always be remembered.
