Manifest Destiny Booklet
Directions:  You will complete several parts of a booklet that will demonstrate the growth of our country.  All three parts must be turned in (in the order assigned) with an illustrated cover page for the booklet. 

Part 1:  Complete the Manifest Destiny painting activity

Part 2: Color and label the land acquisition map with the following:

• Territory and year acquired (use map in textbook on pg. A12-A13)
       Louisiana Purchase                           Florida            
       Texas                                              Mexican Cession
       Oregon Country      
• Method of acquisition (use map in textbook on pg. A12-A13)
• President in office at year of acquisition (use pages in back of textbook)
• Color and label major trails and routes taking people west (use map in textbook on pg. 326).  Use different colors for each trail.

       Oregon Trail
       Mormon Trail
       California Trail
       Santa Fe Trail

Part 3: Research and complete the writing on each topic. (Must be typed.)

Use the website and history text (pg 321, 333), to write a complete paragraph explaining Manifest Destiny.  Be sure to start with a topic sentence, use supporting details, and close with a concluding sentence.
