5/16 Light rain overnight an in to the early morning. The temperatures were in the upper 50s. It only got to 62° F by noon and 63° F by mid afternoon. The eyases look different now ~ more mature. We are beginning to see the first juvenile flight feathers appearing and the white down disappearing. they have gone on their first migration ~ to the other side of the nest box! They don't want to be in that corner where they were grabbed yesterday! |
|
![]() Migration started after breakfast. Kudos on the left and Goldie ... ? |
![]() Getting adventurous - walking the nest box before walking the ledge ... wonder if this is the troublemaker? |
![]() Buckeye is saying, "Off limits" to that corner. Just beginning to see the darker, juvenile feathers on their wings. |
![]() Kudos toward the front, Goldie in the middle, Hope in the corner ...? Well, at least we can tell that is Mom. |
| 5/17 Mid to upper 50s overnight with light winds. At 9:00 AM it was 57° F, The high temperature today was at Noon and 9:00 PM ~ 64.9° F. | |
![]() In line for morning snack ... Hope, Goldie, and Kudos. |
![]() It appears SW has some peace and quiet ... but the babies are tucked away back in the corner. |
![]() "That-a boy ... don't let your sisters push you around because you are smaller." |
The eyases are continuing their regular routine of sleeping, eating, and beginning to explore the nest box a little more. They have stayed over in the opposite corner from where they originally huddled together. Their personalities are beginning to show too. |
| 5/18 Mid 50s - low 60s overnight with no unusual weather patterns. At 6:00 AM it was 55° F. At 2:00 PM the temperature reached 66° F, the high for the day. There are some tricks to telling the babies apart ... Kudos is the smallest one, and Goldie has bright yellow feet (appropriately goes with her name). They are beginning to move around in the nest box more ... can the ledge be far behind? [Don't forget, there are more pictures of us in the baby album.] | |
![]() Goldie on the left, Kudos in the middle, and Hope showing off her darker feathers. |
![]() "That's right, come to the edge..." "Ah, no ... don't think so Mom ..." |
| 5/19 Overnight temperatures continued in the upper 50s and low 60s. At 6:00 AM it was a brisk 53.1° F° but by 1:00 PM it had reached 71.1° F. The young falcons are moving around in the nest box more today, in fact Hope is venturing out a bit (right) ... and we thought Goldie was going to be the troublemaker! They are also stretching their wings, in fact it looks like if a strong breeze comes along this one (Hope again) is out of there (below). |

![]() Goldie: "Now that I've got these open what do I do?" |
| 5/20 At 10:00 PM last night it was 72° F but overnight it dropped through the 60s to a low of 57° F today. The high for the day was 69.1° F. In the early morning Cleveland experienced heavy rain, then light rain and mist off and on all day ... again by 5:00 PM they were having heavy rain and thunder. There are some wet babies today! They are continuing to stretch their wings... | |
![]() "Cough, cough ... that pellet is stuck!" |
![]() "Oh, ooh ... slippery ledge, slippery ledge!" |
![]() "Now, flying lesson #1 ..." |
![]() Hope ~ on flying ... "This is the way he did it, how come it's not working??" |
