Observation Log 15

All pictures are from the APK falconcam

6/3  Overnight temperatures were in the upper 50s / low 60s and it stayed in the mid to upper 50s all day.  At both 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM it was 59° F.  We had the privilege of Mr. Wright checking the camera again today and captured these great close ups of some of the family ... There still remains very sparse little tuffs of white on the juveniles (They really don't look like babies anymore.).  The young have not yet developed the yellow band across the top of the beak, but they have the "fierce falcon" look down ... More close ups on page 6 of the baby album.

6/4  Mid 50s overnight with the temperature at 6:00 AM recorded as 55.9° F.  It stayed in the high 50s / low 60s throughout the day with mist, haze, and light rain occurring off and on.  There continues to be a lot of exercises and wing flapping going on ... any day now one (or 2 or 3) of these babies are going to take off ... Our hopes now are for safe and successful fledges.

"Which way did they go??"

"And we have liftoff ... almost!"

6/5  Temperatures today in the mid to upper 50s ~ perfect "flight test" weather ... It is getting so scary to check the nest and see wings flapping and determination on the face ... The kids will be 6 weeks old tomorrow and a flight could take place any time now!  As the pictures show, they are going through the motions ...
