The Board - Tables

Creating and Modifying Tables

In order to create a list of the game pieces you will need to create a table.

Instructions

 

1.

Click on the Table Frame Tool and draw a new table as shown below:

 

begin by positioning the pointer to include a border

left click and drag the pointer to create the table

finish by unclicking the left mouse button at the desired location

After unclicking a new dialogue box appears called Create Table.

 
 

3.

Select the desired amount of rows and columns depending upon how many game pieces you have.  Add one additional row for a 'Game Pieces' title and at least 2 additional for the company logo.  For example, if you have 10 game pieces, create at least 13 rows and one column.  Also, choose a Table format but it is not necessary.  I choose 'List with Title 3'.  Click OK.

 
 

4.

Select the entire table by left clicking onto the square at the upper right-hand corner of the table.

notice that the selection bars gray out to indicate that they are selected as well as the rows have changed to black

Now, pre-set the table for inserting text as follows:
  • pre-set font (ex. 12pt)
  • pre-set font
  • select bold
  • center align the text

Now, pre-set the alignment by right clicking on the selected table and choose Change Text/Align Text Vertically/Center.

Select the top row and change its color  .

Select the last two rows, right click and select Change Table/Merge Cells and Merge them together

Select the entire table and right click to select Change Table/Line/Border Style/More Styles...

A new dialogue box appears.  Select 4 pt line width and Grid, then click OK.

Continue by selecting every row excluding the top and apply a gradient fill effect to them by selecting fill color and choosing fill effects.  A new dialogue box appears as shown below:

Select a Pattern, base color, and color 2.  Click OK.

Yours should look like:

Now select the top row and type:

Game Pieces
  • Change to 18pt font
  • Change text color to Black
  • Emboss the text by following the instructions below:

Emboss the text by selecting the text and right clicking Change Text/Font...

  

Then, a new dialogue box appears as below:

Select Emboss and click OK.

Yours should look like:

Continue by typing in the rest of the text and copying/pasting your logo from page 1 into the bottom merged cells of page 2 as shown below:

Finally, click on the rectangle tool and draw one behind your table frame to create a second border as shown below:

Select the Line/Border Style Tool and More Styles... A new dialogue box appears.  Select a border style, size, and color as shown below:

select OK when you are done.

Your finished Game Pieces should look like:
