Homework:

Unfinished work will always be considered homework to be returned the following day. Homework written in a binder reminder will be sent home each day with students writing in their daily assignments. Assignments should be ready to be checked the following day. All homework for the week should be stapled together and handed in on Friday. Parents should look over homework, not to correct, but just to see that assignments are finished, and then initial the contract.

Occasionally, assignments will be given over several weeks. Students will need to follow specific guidelines to meet each deadline.

Thirty minutes of reading is highly encouraged every evening. Reminders about our special activities will be included on the webpage. Please use it to stay in touch with your child's activities.

Library:

We will visit the school library one day a week. Students may check out one or more books which must be returned the following week before other books may be checked out. Students are responsible for paying for a book if it is lost.

Computers:

We will visit the computer lab twice each week working on writing skills using the computer for typing skills, research, and writing assignments.  Students will also work on math skills using Aleks, an online math program.

Arrow Book Orders:

Most months I will send book order forms home. Some months an order form for computer software will also come home. If you choose to order, please make a check out to the company (not to me, please) and send it back to school by the specified date.

Magazines:

Students are asked to subscribe to Scholastic Magazine. This magazine is designed for children in the fourth grade and gives them a chance to become actively involved in current events. It comes weekly throughout the school year. I would appreciate your help in off-setting this cost which is not covered by school funds. Please make a check out to me for $4.25 and send it to school in an envelope. We will also use Dynamath to enrich out math program.  The cost of this magazine is $6.95.

Developing Digital Photos: I would like to begin to record your child's fourth grade year by taking photographs that will be put into a memory book at the end of the year.  If you could help with the developing of our pictures, I would really appreciate it. I usually order online through Costco. Thank you so much for your help.

Fieldtrips:

We have a fully-packed schedule for fieldtrips this year. We will need several chaperones on each of our trips. If you could make it a point to help on at least one fieldtrip during the year you would find it rewarding and we would be very much appreciative. If you work and need to plan a day ahead of schedule, please write a note to me and I will try to reserve your place on the fieldtrip of your choice!

If your family is experiencing temporary problems financially and the cost of a fieldtrip is burdensome, please let me know. The PTA has a scholarship fund so that children won't be left out of activities during the normal school day.
